One week to show how we can combat climate change - 21 to 27 March 2011

Thousands of events and activities, highlighting the positive steps being taken to help combat climate change, are being planned by organisations from every sector for the UK's first Climate Week.

Climate Week is backed by every part of society - from the Prime Minister to Paul McCartney, the NHS to the National Trust, Girlguiding UK to the CBI, the Big Lottery Fund to Groundwork UK.

Organisations can get involved right now by starting to plan an event for Climate Week, entering the prestigious Climate Week Awards or registering to take part in the UK?s biggest ever live environmental competition, the Climate Week Challenge. They can also spread the word in advance, so that others find out about Climate Week in time to plan their own activities. Visit www.climateweek.com for more information.

At Groundwork we are continuing the Skills for Climate Change project as part of our effort to facilitate behavioural change amongst employees in the West Midlands. Employees can attend a range of different training courses including the one day CIEH accredited Environmental Principles and Best Practice course or a more in depth Groundwork Environmental Management Systems Course and then become Climate Change Champions in their workplaces. To help further there are a number of PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) courses in the pipeline which will provide the teaching and engaging skills for Climate Change Champions to really make an impact. To date over 100 participants have already accessed our courses and there are still spaces available.

To find out more about the courses on offer go to events or e-mail wmebs@groundwork.org.uk to register your interest.
